Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that President Joe Biden’s immigration policy, and specifically his reversal of his predecessor’s zero tolerance policy, “creates real problems” for his state and the rest of the country.
Paxton told “John Bachman Now” on Wednesday afternoon: “It creates real problems for all the border states and ultimately the entire country, because those risks that are associated with open borders and not following federal law create health care risks with COVID and other potential diseases. It creates issues with law enforcement and people doing things that harm people.”
He went on to note “that my state has to bear with health care and education and law enforcement costs and numerous other costs. So, it's a real problem and the federal government isn’t gonna come in with money to help us, and they're making it really easy now for people to come across the border.”
Paxton later added that “If congress wants something different than what we have, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having them review immigration law and make changes. It hasn't been changed in a long time. I would be open to that, but it certainly has to be our elected representatives, debated openly where you have back and forth and there's a vote. Not some unilateral action by either an agency, the federal government, or the president himself.”
