The curriculum change to the Advanced Placement U.S. history course taught to American high school juniors across the country is "the most negative, anti-American revisionist rewrite of history I've ever seen," according to Ken Mercer, a member of the Texas Board of Education, who joined American Principles Project lawyer Jane Robbins on
Newsmax TV's "America's Forum" on Monday to discuss the revised course.
According to
Newsweek, which interviewed a 40-year history teacher from New Jersey, "the framework fails to mention most of America's greatest historical figures by name," including John Winthrop, Thomas Jefferson, or Martin Luther King Jr., but instead, according to the teacher, pushes a "revisionist view of American history that elides heroic individuals and emphasizes oppression and conflict."
