Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Penn., says U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has been ''consistently disappointing'' on his refusal to address lawsuits about election laws in the 2020 presidential election.
''When you look at what happened in Pennsylvania, and the court's refusal to look at it, that adds further to the American people that these things are rigged, 'Why should we even vote?''' Kelly said Thursday during an appearance on Newsmax TV's ''Chris Salcedo Show.''
''I can't imagine being in that position, in that oath of office and looking at what the lower courts didn't do, and they should've done and say, 'No, we're not even going to hear this.' I think Justice Clarence Thomas, really, in everyday language, spoke about it so clearly and saying that 'I am baffled by this court's lack of taking up some very important issues.' I don't understand it. …
"I didn't expect anything from Chief Justice Roberts, but I did think that somehow in addition to Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Thomas, so between Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Justice Neil Gorsuch, that we would at least get two more justices on board.''
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a handful of cases related to the 2020 presidential election, including disputes from Pennsylvania that had divided the justices before the election.
The cases the justices rejected involved election challenges filed by former President Donald Trump and his allies in five states President Joe Biden won: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
