Ex-FBI Agent: Ferguson Shows Government Fails at Protection

The looting and torching of local businesses in the Missouri city of Ferguson after a grand jury decision in the Michael Brown shooting reveals the failure of government to protect its citizens, former Navy SEAL and FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam says.

"It's just another example of a lack of effective thinking in government, in law enforcement, in the senior levels of law enforcement all the way up to the governor," Gilliam, president of United States Continued Service, said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I don't think it's ironic that the president was saying we should be peaceful at the same time that these things are happening. Rhetoric just doesn't work anymore.

"There used to be a day and age when heroes existed and great leaders could say, hey, let's be peaceful and people would listen. But nobody listens to that rhetoric anymore because there's no effective thinking in how you prepare yourself."
