The hawkish reputation of new national security adviser John Bolton will help give President Donald Trump more power at the bargaining table with North Korea and other nations, Massachusetts state Rep. Geoff Diehl told Newsmax TV on Friday.
"This gives President Trump a much stronger hand in negotiating," Diehl, a Republican who represents the 7th Plymouth District and is challenging Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, said to Miranda Khan on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."

"John Bolton brings to the table experience with foreign nations that I think is important perspective wise … [He] has that more hawkish perspective, but it's nice to have that big stick but not have to use it."
On Thursday, Trump announced that in April he will replace current adviser H.R. McMaster with Bolton, who served as U.S. States Ambassador to the United Nations from 2005 to 2006, and is thought to be ideologically more in sync with the commander-in-chief.
"I think Donald Trump has always been known for negotiating and I think that's why North Korea was ultimately agreed to sit down at the table," Diehl said. "I think John Bolton adds to the tools on the table for the president."
