The House has been a mess since "we vacated" Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the speakership role, Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., said in an interview.
"Conservatives are frustrated, rightfully so, because there are opportunities that we see to try to press this administration to curtail spending, to fix the border, and they don't see it happening," Fry said Friday during an appearance on Newsmax's "Carl Higbie: FRONTLINE."
"They're frustrated. I'm frustrated. I think everyone collectively is. We have an opportunity to bend the arc, to get rid of this spending addiction in Washington and to do something that's on the mind of every single voter, Republican, Democrat, and independent, and that's fix our border, so let's go do it."
Fry demurred when asked whether House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., had control of the House, telling Higbie, "I think everyone can see that the Republican conference is like herding cats.
"I think it's really important we listen to our voters. I listen to mine constantly and the trajectory of our country is really important to me, it's important to our voters. We see what's going on and so it's really important for the rest of Congress to wake up, and let's fix this.
"We don't have all the government power. We have the House, so let's make it count."
