Howie Carr: Black Mass Shows Harvard 'Has Lost Its Soul'

By    |   Monday, 12 May 2014 07:14 PM EDT

Boston Herald columnist and radio talk show host Howie Carr says recent events at Harvard University, such as the satanic black mass planned for Monday night to mock the Catholic Mass, show that "Harvard has really lost its soul."

"The school was founded, I think, in 1636, and its mission, primary and always since then, basically, has been to train ministers," Carr told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV.

"It was first and foremost a religious institution, and now they're just letting people rub the noses of some religions in the dirt," he said Monday.

However, Carr argues that if a group "decided to have some kind of religious service dumping on Islam," the administration would shut it down in "about two seconds."

An increasing number of commencement speakers at various universities, such as former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice at Rutgers, have backed out of their invitations because there's been so much protest against them.

Carr explained that those who have protested these speakers "don't like anybody who doesn't have the right political philosophy, even if they believe in free speech."
