Arguments that Islamic State (ISIS) militants have nothing to do with Islam are as faulty as those that say ISIS is Islam, says Maajid Nawaz, a Muslim author and co-founder of the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam.
"You know this notion that it's got nothing to do with Islam … I think it's as absurd as saying as that a Sith Lord has nothing to do with the Force," Nawaz said Saturday on Fox News Channel's
"The Greg Gutfeld Show."
In the Star Wars movies, the Force can be used for good or bad, Nawaz said.
"And we've just got to acknowledge that, that the religion of Islam, it's as ridiculous as saying that ISIS is Islam as it is to say that they have nothing to do with Islam They have something to do with Islam," he said. "Obviously they have something to do with it, and we have to talk about that something."
