Polling is "totally dead" and means nothing when it comes to predicting who will win the presidency, radio talk show host Sebastian Gorka, a former deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, told Newsmax TV Tuesday.

"You can buy, at antique shops, you can buy phrenology busts, the Victorian science of feeling bumps on your head to define your character," Gorka told Newsmax TV's "Spicer & Co."

"Polling in America is like phrenology. It's a fake science; it is totally dead. I trust polls about as much as I trust anybody who works for the fake news industrial complex."

Spicer, a former press secretary for Trump, asked Gorka about a poll conducted for the British newspaper Sunday Express by Democracy Institute, which said 37% would not tell people they voted for Trump, but 74% said they'd want their vote to be known.

Spicer said the poll suggests there is "silent support" for Trump, and Gorka pointed out the secret support back in 2016 when Trump defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"Two of the tweets I saved, I'm sure they're on your phone as well, 2 or 3 weeks before the election, it was the New York Times tweet, Hillary Clinton has a 92% chance of winning," Gorka told Spicer. "The day of the election, Sean, the sweetest of all, Huffington Post tweet, "candidate Trump has a 5% chance of winning; Hillary has 94%."

Further, he said there are no kinds of credible results that can be gotten from national polls.

"We have an Electoral College, so it's totally irrelevant what national polls say," said Gorka.  "(They are) counting the wrong things, counting the things that are easy to count which of course are irrelevant."

He also agreed with Spicer that there is a suppression of Republican thought occurring, making people ashamed to say they support conservatism.

"You have the op-ed page editor of the New York Times fired, why, because he dared to publish the opinion piece of an elected Republican senator who said we've got to stop the rioting on the streets of America," said Gorka. "Woke sounds funny, snowflake sounds funny, but fascism, you have to agree with antifa, Black Lives matter, or defunding the police, otherwise you get fired, it's not American."
