Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay labeled House Democrats' memo about the ongoing Russia investigation as political and full of lies.
"The Republican memo is nothing but a factual memo laying out what has been going on and what they know to date. The Democrat memo is a pack of lies," DeLay told Newsmax TV host John Bachman on "Newsmax Now."
"It starts with a political statement in the very first paragraph. It continues all down the memo and it's nothing but a political document. They very cagely and cleverly leave out facts. If they were going to refute the Republican memo, they leave out a lot of facts. It's a piece of crap, and [Rep.] Adam Schiff is a liar. The Democrat memo is really embarrassing."

The document was made public over the weekend and was written by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee in response to a similar document authored by Republicans on the panel. The Democrats' document is longer, but DeLay said it does not have much substance.
DeLay, a Texas Republican, also touched on gun control and said President Donald Trump needs to tread lightly as he tries to take actions to strengthen the nation's gun laws. A school shooting in Florida two weeks ago left 14 children and three adults dead.
"I think it's very dangerous for Trump to walk out there and say, 'I've got a pen and a phone, and I'm gonna do what I criticized President Obama to do and I'm gonna legislate by executive order,'" DeLay said. "He better be very careful."
Trump has spent the last week meeting with stakeholders in the gun control debate as he tries to urge Congress to shore up some of the laws around firearms.
