Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's lawsuit against Russia special counsel Robert Mueller "has a lot of merit," Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
"Robert Mueller has violated the law again," Klayman, a former federal prosecutor, told "Newsmax Now" host Bill Tucker. "He exceeded his mandate that was given to him by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein."

Freedom Watch sued the Justice Department in October, challenging Mueller's integrity and citing numerous media leaks.
Klayman said Manafort's action, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Washington, "deals with the fact that it's nondiscretionary on the Justice Department's part to approve if Mueller went beyond the scope of his original mandate.
"That was to investigate Russian collusion — not to go back to 2005, 2006, and look into stuff that Manafort allegedly did before he ever became the campaign manager for Trump.
"He does have standing," Klayman told Tucker, "because it does affect him.
"He was prosecuted illegally by Mueller — and it's another example of how Mueller has acted himself an illegal, if not criminal, way.
"The lawsuit is very well taken."
