Republicans have focused way too much on Hillary Clinton's email scandal at the expense of other issues — and it may hurt them in the 2016 presidential election, bestselling political writer Ed Klein tells
Newsmax TV.
"Everybody says that the big loser during the Democratic debate was [Vice President] Joe Biden because the door for him getting in was closed by Hillary's performance. The other big loser actually is the Republican Party," Klein said Thursday on "Newsmax Prime" with J.D. Hayworth.
"Up to that debate, the Republicans had been obsessing about Hillary's emails, talking about nothing except Hillary's emails, and making her look as though she was fatally flawed and was never going to get the nomination. Now it looks as though the Republicans were wrong about that."

Klein — author of
"Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary," published by Regnery "Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. The Obamas," published by Pinnacle — added that the former secretary of state is "very, very well prepared" for the Benghazi hearings on Capitol Hill next week.
Those GOP-led hearings come as charges fly that they are nothing more than a partisan witch hunt designed to hurt Clinton’s presidential changes.
"I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to make the same mistake as she made last time when she flailed her arms around and yelled, 'What difference does it make?'" Klein said.
"She's going to go in there as a very confident witness and handle herself very well."
