With his winning smile and sincere approach, Rickles came off as a pussycat as he heaped praise on audiences — until he’d suddenly pivot 180-degrees and rattle off jaw-dropping insults, a skill that earned him the nickname “The Merchant of Venom.”

In this one-hour special, Newsmax TV brings you a fascinating look at the career of Mr. Warmth, who when he wasn’t dishing out hilarious quips, doubled as a dramatic actor in such films as “Run Silent Run Deep” with Clark Gable, “X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes” with Ray Milland, and “Casino” with Robert De Niro.

But it was as a master of insults that Rickles had America rolling in the aisles. At Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration, Rickles deadpanned: “I must tell you, Mr. President, it’s a big treat coming out here all the way from California for this kind of money.”

He said of Frank Sinatra: “When you enter a room, you have to kiss his ring. I don’t mind, but he has it in his back pocket.”

He said of Robert De Niro: “He’s sitting there. He’s one of the great actors of our time. You ask him.”

And at a tribute to Clint Eastwood, Rickles informed the star: “Clint, I’m sorry, but I just gotta say what’s on everybody’s mind here tonight: You’re a terrible actor.”

And if those verbal Molotov cocktails didn’t grab you, don’t worry, Rickles has plenty more! Let’s face it, everybody needs a few good laughs these days and we promise we’ll have you doubling over with our hour-long presentation of “Don Rickles: The Prince of Putdowns.”
