Substantial tax cuts absolutely can be enacted this year, David McIntosh, president of the Club for Growth and former GOP congressman from Indiana, tells Newsmax TV.
"We've been talking to the president's advisers about the type of proposals they'll include," McIntosh, who leads the conservative advocacy group, said Monday to Bill Tucker on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live."
"It's going to focus on the pro-growth elements: reducing the rate for corporations and small businesses so that dramatic cuts in that rate will get us to growth potentially at 3-4 percent in the economy.
"A lot of jobs will get created along with that. I think that priority can absolutely happen this year whether or not they get the healthcare bill done."

McIntosh said President Donald Trump has signaled the start of "real serious discussion about these deep and significant pro-growth tax cuts."
"There's also some other things in there that are very good pro-growth policies. The elimination of the death taxes, allowing immediate expensing for businesses of the cost as they add equipment," he said.
McIntosh said tax reform might have come sooner but "there were a lot of things that got distracting along the way."
Those include the House healthcare bill that "failed to repeal key parts of Obamacare," he said.
"You've seen a lot of foreign policy issues that have dominated the press as well."
