Rep. Meuser to Newsmax: Wild's 'Trump Kool-Aid' Comment 'Deplorable'

By    |   Wednesday, 31 January 2024 06:08 PM EST

Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., took issue with his colleague's recent comments on constituents in a Zoom call, during which Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa., expressed discomfort over including in her redrawn congressional district a county that she claimed had "drank the Trump Kool-Aid."

During an appearance on Newsmax's "American Agenda," Meuser referenced a comment made by Hillary Clinton when whe was running against Donald Trump in 2016.

"Well, it's right out of Hillary's book of deplorables," he said. "And hopefully, the effects will be somewhere the same. You know, Susan Wild has been on the wrong side of every issue over the last two years."

Meuser went on to criticize Wild's voting record, stating, "She has been voting with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time; 100% of the time voting for every spending increase — Joe Biden's pushing of tax increases is part of the assault on domestic energy — voting against crime bills. Just again, every problem that has occurred in this country, Susan Wild has been part of voting for not trying to correct, making matters worse."

The Pennsylvania Republican also addressed the insult directed at a significant portion of the newly included county in Wild's district.

"On top of that, she thinks it's a wonderful idea to insult a large portion of her new district. ... By the way, she also tried to insult me. But I don't get insulted by words from one individual, a colleague. What I care about is my constituents and my constituents in Carbon County. Well, they voted for me last time around 68% to 30[%] to 32%. So, I know that county very well. It's a beautiful place."

Meuser took the opportunity to encourage constituents displeased with Wild's representation to consider alternative options.

"All I can say is, to my former constituents of Carbon County: If Susan Wild doesn't want to represent you, call my office, as you well know you can. But more importantly, let's vote Susan Wild out this coming November. We have some great Republican candidates there," he said.

"There's a lady by the name of Maria Monteiro who is just special and is really just doing some exceptional things. So let's make sure we get a representative for Carbon County come this November," he added.
