Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said he believes the anonymous author of The New York Times essay critical of President Donald Trump is a "low-level staffer" trying to bring down the president.
During an appearance on Wednesday's "The Howie Carr Show," on Newsmax TV, Lewandowski was asked about the story that gained national attention last week when it was published.
"I'll tell you Howie, I had the privilege of flying with Vice President [Mike] Pence to Nevada on Friday of last week – we talked about it a lot," Lewandowski said. "What I personally think, it's a low-level staffer who thinks that he's saving the country from Donald Trump. Somebody who clearly wasn't elected."

Lewandowski then referenced a new book by journalist Bob Woodward, which quotes several anonymous sources within the Trump administration as saying Trump is doing harm to the country. The administration has called the book a work of fiction, but Lewandowski said portions of it appear to be true.
"There's some significant quotes in there from globalist Gary Cohn and Rob Porter, the alleged wife beater, who say, we did everything we could to stop the Trump agenda from going forward," Lewandowski said."Which means there are people within the administration by their own admission, their own quotes, that don't want to see this president be successful.
"That op-ed is another one of those individuals."
