WSJ's Henninger: Obama Ignores Congress, Goes His Own Way

Monday, 23 June 2014 03:10 PM EDT

President Barack Obama has, for all intents and purposes, withdrawn from politics, according to Daniel Henninger, deputy editorial page director of the Wall Street Journal.

"It's no mystery or secret that he's done with Congress,'' Henninger, a Pulizer Prize-winning reporter, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"He barely deals with Congress anymore at all, preferring to either try to execute strategy through executive authority in the agencies or as he does most of the time now flying around the country doing multiple fundraisers for the Democratic Party,''

Obama has also been ignoring world issues, according to Henninger.

"The mess we have in Ukraine and God knows now Iraq, the president essentially did this to himself,'' he said.

"The president was going to reduce the U.S. position and [its] role in the world. This was known as leading from behind … and what was discovered about leading from behind is that the United States doesn't lead.

"It was a policy that was always going to run the risk of emboldening our adversaries.''
