National Security Expert: Hamas Controlling Media Coverage

The world sees a sanitized version of the atrocities committed by Hamas when the media reports on its war with Israel in Gaza, according to national security analyst Clifford May, president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

"I say this sadly: If you're a reporter in Gaza, you better do what Hamas tells you to do and report the way Hamas tells you to report,'' May said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Which is why if you've been watching any network TV at all, you have not seen Hamas fighters shooting, running away, launching missiles, any of it. It's as if the Israelis are fighting ghosts.

"What you see are rubble and various civilians, women crying, children wounded, or killed … The way that Hamas operates, they maximize civilian casualties on their side for PR benefit and then they're taken very seriously by a lot of the media and a lot of other actors in the international community.''
