Sen. Charles Schumer's declaration that it was a mistake to pass the Affordable Care Act was a "remarkable" admission that has the New York Democrat in hot water with his party, says Noah Rothman, associate editor of the media watchdog HotAir.com.
"It's a remarkable statement. He said that not only was it a political mistake for the Democrats to pursue healthcare reform at a time where Americans wanted to focus on jobs and economic reform packages, but that it was a policy mistake as well," Rothman said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"This has resulted in a huge backlash from a significant amount of former Obama speech writers and staffers, but also Democrats on both sides of the moderate-progressive divide within that party. It's something similar to a civil war, if the press would call it that."
