Edmund Wright: We Should Have Caught Khattala on Night of Attack

By    |   Tuesday, 17 June 2014 08:23 PM EDT

The White House portrays the capture of Benghazi terror suspect Ahmed Abu Khattala as "some great manhunt" on a par with the take-down of Osama bin Laden, but a better outcome would have been "if the president and Hillary Clinton had done their job the night of Benghazi," columnist C. Edmund Wright said Tuesday.

In a panel discussion on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, the Breitbart and American Thinker writer argued it's not the time to celebrate Khattala's arrest for the deadly 2012 attack.

"They're portraying this as some great manhunt," he jeered. "This guy's been sort of walking around with impunity ever since the Benghazi attack. It's not like this took SEAL Team 6 led by [President Barack] Obama himself parachuting in with Rambo's knife clenched between his teeth."

Wright said his view wasn't cynical, just realistic.

"I would have been happy if the president and Hillary Clinton had done their job the night of Benghazi, hadn't left the Special Forces people out there, Tasers on the target, and then we could have had a rah-rah America," he said.

"I would have been happier if about five other better scenarios had played out — like he was killed that night," he added.
