Caroline Glick, a former policy adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told Newsmax Wednesday she doesn't expect a rapid end to Israel's war with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
"We don't see an end to it anytime soon," Glick, senior contributing editor of the Jewish News Syndicate, told "American Agenda," noting what happens "every time Israel leaves an area."
"We just tried it over the past week and a half; we left areas in northern Gaza and we got rockets shot into our city of Netivot from the places we abandoned.
"The same thing happened the day after from central Gaza from areas that we left, thinking that the area had been pacified. And that's not true.
"Hamas has dug in in Gaza. It has the full allegiance of the people of Gaza, who work with Hamas."
Glick said Israel Defense Forces have found rocket-propelled grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, hand grenades, and other weapons inside almost every house, school, nursery, mosque, medical center, and hospital clinic in Gaza, including United Nations facilities.
"Gaza is an area, is a political entity, is a society, and is a territory that all aspects of life there have been militarized against Israel," she said. "I'm only talking about the things above ground. They have hundreds and hundreds of miles of underground terror tunnels.
"They call it lower Gaza, and that's where the terror masters are located. That's where most of their war materials [are] located, and that's where we assume that the remaining hostages are located and being used as human shields around the terror masters.
"The fight is going to be getting more difficult because we're fighting in areas with large civilian populations."
Glick said the way to help Israel solve its objectives — to destroy Hamas and rescue the remaining hostages — is to allow civilians to evacuate from Gaza, but she criticized the U.S. for siding with Egypt and prohibiting refugees access to a third country.
"That also inhibits the war effort and makes it much longer and much more dangerous for our forces," she said.
