Michael Reagan: Trump Budget 'Dead on Arrival'

The White House budget unveiled Monday is "dead on arrival," Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.

Reagan appeared on "Newsmax Now" and spoke with host John Bachman about the Trump administration's $4 trillion wishlist for fiscal year 2019.

"This is one of those budgets that's dead on arrival when it gets to the House of Representatives or the Senate of the United States," Reagan said. "It is merely a blueprint of what the president would like to see happen.

"It is certainly not gonna happen the way he likes it. Will there be some concessions made? I'm sure there will be."

Reagan said the biggest hurdle regarding the budget is the fact this is an election year. Democrats, he noted, would rather not help President Donald Trump on infrastructure — which is included in the budget — and give him a legislative victory.

"In an election year, very rarely does anything get done because both sides want to have an issue to go into the 2018 election and possibly keep the House of Representatives or win back the House of Representatives," Reagan said.

"Everybody agrees [infrastructure] needs to be done, but the Democrats do not want to give the president of the United States a win in 2018 on any issue."
