Ben Ferguson to Newsmax: Angry GOP Voters Will Skip Midterms

By    |   Wednesday, 04 February 2026 08:37 PM EST

Conservative radio host Ben Ferguson warned Wednesday that frustrated Republican voters are likely to stay home in the midterm elections if GOP lawmakers fail to deliver on their campaign promises.

He predicted steep losses if current trends continue.

Speaking on Newsmax’s "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE," Ferguson said Republican leadership has repeated a familiar pattern of gaining power and then disappointing its base.

"If you want to know how to lose the election coming up, then just don’t do what you said you were going to do," Ferguson said.

"And if you want to win the election that’s coming up, just do what you said you were going to do when you were elected."

Ferguson said voter anger is already having consequences and warned the party could lose both chambers of Congress.

"I promise you that if the election was today, we will lose the House, I truly believe, and there's a very good chance that we lose the Senate," he said.

"For one reason and one reason only: We are not delivering on everything that we swore that we were going to give the American people as a party."

He compared the moment to past Republican failures, pointing to figures such as Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Paul Ryan.

"This is what we always do. Like every single time," Ferguson said. "Republicans are really good at fighting from the minority."

"And then they get into office, and they just don’t do anything," he said.

Ferguson cited voter ID as an example of an issue with broad public support that Republicans have failed to advance.

"Overwhelmingly, African Americans, Hispanics, whites, conservatives, moderates, even Democrats, say it is not insane to show an ID to vote," he said. "And what do Republicans do?

"Apparently we can’t even get that right."

Ferguson also warned that a lack of accountability within government fuels voter apathy, particularly among conservatives who expected "law and order."

"When you are angry like I am, what happens?" Ferguson said. "People stay home and they don’t vote in a midterm election.

"Democrats are inspired right now."

Ferguson said unless Republicans quickly change course, history is likely to repeat itself at the ballot box.
