Iranian president Hassan Rouhani's wish of a prosperous Rosh Hashanah to Israel and the Jewish community is a sham statement he should be ashamed of, renowned civil-rights lawyer Alan Dershowitz tells
Newsmax TV.
"It came shortly after the Iranian leadership said Israel will disappear in 25 years and Israel will be destroyed," Dershowitz said Wednesday to J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax Prime.
"It's not in the Abrahamic tradition to murder gays, it's not in the Abrahamic tradition to kill Christians.
"It's not in the Abrahamic tradition to threaten the nation state of the Jewish people, which Abraham founded 3,500 years ago. So this is hypocrisy 101."

Rouhani sent his greetings early Monday morning via Twitter.
But Dershowitz, a Harvard Law School professor emeritus, isn't buying it.
"They ought to be ashamed of themselves for using Hebrew words and greetings of a holy day to hypocritically show fake support for the Jewish people when their goal is to end the nation state of the Jewish people," Dershowitz said.
Appearing with Dershowitz on "Newsmax Prime" was former Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Michigan, who served as chairman of the House, and who like Dershowitz vehemently opposes the Iran nuclear deal.
He said he expects continued efforts on Capitol Hill to protect Israel and the United States against Iran, despite the deal which calls for Iran's nuclear capabilities to be curbed in exchange for crippling economic sanctions being lifted.
"The broader community here in Washington and throughout America is going to hold the president accountable, it is going to hold those who supported this agreement accountable," Hoekstra told Hayworth.
"Because what we're going to see is money flow to Hezbollah, Hamas … into Yemen, undercutting the interest of the United States, undercutting the security of the United States and Israel.
"And we're going to hold those folks accountable. ISIS and these people, they watch everything that we do, but we now need to make sure that we hold Iran accountable for its actions after this agreement goes into place."
Hoekstra said Americans must then hold those in Congress who supported the deal accountable.
"The next 18 months is going to be all about accountability," he said.
