White House chief of staff John Kelly delivered a strong message Wednesday to a California high school teacher who insulted members of the military during a history class.
"I think the guy ought to go to hell," Kelly, a retired Marine general, said during an appearance on "The Brian Kilmeade Show." I just hope he enjoys the liberties and the lifestyle that we have fought for."
Gregory Salcido was teaching a history class at El Rancho High history School in southern California recently when, according to a video of his lesson on which his voice can be heard, he spoke ill of members of the military.
"Think about the people you know who are over there," Salcido said on the recording, referencing military members deployed overseas. "Your freakin' stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They're dumb [expletive]. They're not high-level bankers. They're not academic people. They're not intellectual people.
"They're the freakin' lowest of our low. . . . They're not talented people."
Salcido is a councilman at Pico Rivera, California, and once served as the city's mayor. The Whittier Daily News reported earlier this week Salcido has been placed on administrative leave as school officials investigate his comments.
