ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — FBI investigators are asking the person who shot at the Pentagon, a Marine museum and two military recruiting stations to call them.
Authorities want to talk to the person who they believe may have a gripe against the Marine Corps. They say the shooter doesn't appear to want to hurt anyone because the person is firing at buildings overnight, when no one is around.
Gary Noesner (NESS-nur), a former chief of the FBI's crisis negotiation unit, says the agency often publicly asks suspects to give themselves up.
The agency made similiar appeals to D.C.-area snipers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, who terrorized the Washington, D.C., area for three weeks and killed 10 people in October 2002.
After they were caught, investigators revealed the snipers had made a number of hot line calls that were mishandled or misinterpreted.
