Chris Christie's Bridge Case Legal Fees Exceed $10 Million

Chris Christie's Bridge Case Legal Fees Exceed $10 Million

Friday, 19 February 2016 08:50 PM EST

New Jersey taxpayers have been billed more than $10 million for legal services performed for Gov. Chris Christie's administration in the George Washington Bridge lane closure case.

Invoices released by the state attorney general's office Friday evening show the governor's office spent $2.3 million on digital forensics firm Stroz Friedberg in 2014 and 2015. That's in addition to the $8 million Christie's administration spent through December for services from the Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher firm.

Millions of dollars more have been spent on outside lawyers by a legislative committee and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Two former Christie allies are accused of orchestrating the closures of access lanes to the bridge in September 2013 to punish a local mayor for not endorsing Christie's successful re-election bid.

This story has been corrected to show the amount spent with Stroz Friedberg is $2.3 million, not $2.4 million.
