Franklin Graham Rallying Christians in Boston

Tuesday, 30 August 2016 02:54 PM EDT

The son of famed evangelist Billy Graham has urged a gathering on the historic Boston Common to vote in the November election.

The Rev. Franklin Graham told the noontime prayer rally that he was not taking sides in the presidential race, and didn't mention Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton in his remarks.

Graham added he had little hope that either the Democratic or Republican parties could solve the nation's spiritual or political problems.

Organizers of the event, the latest stop on Graham's "Decision America" tour, estimated the crowd at about 3,400. No official count was available.

Similar rallies are scheduled this week in Providence, Rhode Island, and Hartford, Connecticut.

Massachusetts and New England are believed to have proportionately lower numbers of evangelical Christians than some other U.S. regions.<
