The United States does not appear set to issue an apology to Israel leaders for sharing highly confidential intelligence with Russian officials, the Washington Examiner is reporting.

"I don't know that there's anything to apologize for," said Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

His comments came as President Donald Trump and his team landed in Israel on Monday.

Israel was the source of the highly classified information Trump shared with Russian officials, The New York Times reported. And the disclosure left a chill among current and former intelligence officials in Jerusalem, according to USA Today.

Trump also noted he had the "absolute right" to share facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety, the newspaper reported.

Meanwhile, The Washington Free Beacon reported that upon arriving in Israel, Trump said: "On my first trip overseas as president, I have come to this sacred and ancient land to reaffirm an unbreakable bond between us and Israel."
