The new travel ban that was expected from the White House this week has been delayed until next week, The Hill reports.
The White House did not give an explanation for the delay, which had been reported earlier Wednesday to be taking place on Friday, according to The Hill.
President Donald Trump's first effort at a 90-day moratorium on travel from seven countries with ties to terrorism was struck down by a Washington State federal judge and upheld by the liberal-leaning Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Critics said it amounted to a ban on Muslim immigrants since the seven countries targeted are majority Muslim and Trump stated before taking office a Muslim ban should be put in place to prevent terrorist entering with refugees.
But chaos ensued at airports after Trump's initial executive order went into effect with travelers, some with green cards, finding themselves unable to leave customs.
The new order will be essentially the same, White House policy adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News' "The First 100 Days" on Tuesday, but will have "mostly minor technical differences" to avoid the same legal challenges.
