Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's special counsel and executive vice president in the Trump Organization, said Thursday he can't vote for the real estate billionaire in the New York presidential primary because he is a registered Democrat.
Cohen brought it up when questioned about whether he would support Reince Priebus, making the comments during a CNN appearance, according to the
Washington Free Beacon.
CNN's "At This Hour" hosts John Berman and Kate Bolduan noted that Cohen and Trump's children can't vote in the primary.
"I'd like to be one of his children," Cohen said to the hosts. "But no, I'm not voting in the primary."
Cohen's Democrat registration is no secret. It was discussed in an
ABC News profile story on Cohen in 2011 that called Cohen Trump's "pit bull."
"You don't have to worry about Mr. Trump," Cohen said, after Berman commented that Trump would not get votes from family or employees. "He's around 50 plus percent in New York. This is his hometown," Cohen responded.
Cohen mentioned the CNN appearance in a tweet:
