A frequent critic of President Donald Trump in the sports world is accusing the Republican Party of abandoning what it stands for to back the president.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, whose Twitter account is sprinkled with anti-Trump messages, posted this Wednesday evening while sharing a New York Times opinion piece:
"I believe the vast majority of Americans want a unifying, moral leader. The GOP has sold its soul to Trump, so the Dems have to get this right in 2020. Make this about jobs and unification. Period."
Kerr also shared another Times opinion piece Wednesday and wrote the message, "Racist to the Bone."
And last weekend, Kerr joined a chorus of critics who called out Trump for his tweets about four freshman Democrats that are being called racist after he suggested they "go back" to their countries of heritage, fix the problems there, and then return to the United States.
"Come on members of Congress, call out the president for his racist tweets this morning. Show some leadership. It’s the job you were elected to do," Kerr wrote.
