Trump Touts Romney on Michigan Radio Air Waves

By    |   Monday, 20 February 2012 10:38 AM EST

Real estate mogul Donald Trump is talking the talk for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, whom he endorsed this month. Trump will talk up Romney and talk down his rival Rick Santorum in radio interviews on stations throughout Michigan this week in the run-up to the Feb. 28 primary there, ABC News reports.

The Trump stump began with an interview on the “Art Lewis Show” on WSGW in the Flint-Saginaw market. If it’s Tuesday, it must be Trump calling in to the “Ron Jolly Show” on WTCM in Traverse City. On Wednesday, Trump will be heard on the “Paul Smith Show” on WJR in Detroit. And on Thursday, Trump will offer his views to Michael Patrick Shiels, a host on WJIM in Lansing.

It will be interesting to hear how much time Trump devotes to building up Romney and how much time he spends knocking Santorum. Trump has been free in his criticism of the former Pennsylvania senator in recent days.

“All of a sudden, he says, ‘let’s become president?’ Give me a break,” Trump told Fox News a couple of weeks ago.

The Donald is dead serious in his work for Romney, Michael Cohen, special counsel at the Trump Organization, told ABC. “For Mr. Trump, it [the endorsement] wasn’t merely a symbolic gesture,” he said. “Mr. Trump has pledged to assist Governor Romney in anything that he deems beneficial to his bid for the Republican nomination.”
