President Donald Trump might submit written responses to questions posed by special counsel Robert Mueller after the midterm elections take place next week, his attorney said Monday.

“We have an informal agreement that while negotiating the final details of a Q&A that we wouldn’t comment much, we have been sort of quiet,” Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor now representing Trump, told Bloomberg on Monday. “But I expect a day after the election we will be in serious discussions with them again, and I have a feeling they want to get it wrapped up one way or another.”

Former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova, who is acting as an outside adviser to Trump, told Fox News on Monday that “There isn’t going to be an interview. I don’t even know if they’re going to answer written questions, which is the latest state of play between the special counsel’s office and the president’s lawyers."

DiGenova added that “There aren’t going to be any collusion indictments because there wasn’t any evidence of that—everybody knew that before Mueller was appointed, especially [Deputy Attorney General Rod] Rosenstein. He knew it cold.”

Giuliani said that a face-to-face interview is “off the table” at this time, but may be an option in the future.
