President Donald Trump is asking advisers which Democrat will be his most formidable challenger in 2020, Axios is reporting.
Several of the advisers already have told him a candidate like former Vice President Joe Biden could pose the biggest risk, the website noted.
Biden was in first place among Democratic voters who were asked to pick their favorite for the party’s nomination next year, a Politico/Morning Consult poll revealed. Biden was favored by 33 percent. Sen Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was in second place at 15 percent.
Trump also is asking friends and advisers what sort of impact the shutdown has had on him politically. And he is seeking answers on what he should do to recover his standing in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, Axios reported.
The website said the three states helped deliver the presidency to Trump in 2016, but went against him in the midterms.
