The Trump campaign — including Donald Trump and his son, Donald Jr. — were sent an email last September offering them access to hacked WikiLeaks documents, CNN reports.
The email, sent on Sept. 4, reportedly stated the campaign could be provided with a decryption key and website address to access the stolen documents.
CNN says the email is now in the hands of congressional investigators probing Russia's interference with the 2016 presidential election and whether there was collusion with the Trump campaign to sway the vote.
The email also stated that records from former Secretary of State Colin Powell could be accessed — 10 days before Powell's hacked emails were made public by a Russian front group, according to CNN.
Congressional investigators don't know who sent the email and CNN said it is unclear whether it was a "legitimate effort" to pass hacked documents to the Trump campaign.
