A new poll shows President Donald Trump has nearly double the support from people who very excited to vote for him compared to likely voters for Joe Biden.
A new ABC News/Washington Post survey showed 55 percent of likely Trump voters were "very enthusiastic" about voting for the president while only 28 percent of likely voters for Biden said they were "very enthusiastic."
Also, 86 percent of likely Trump voters say they are enthusiastic about voting for the president versus just 74 percent of Biden voters say the same.
The Washington Post pointed out that among recent candidates from both parties who've lost presidential campaigns, low enthusiasm ratings was common among likely voters.
Since February, Trump has gained ground among all registered voters as well, narrowing Biden's lead in points from seven to two. Today, Trump has 47 percent of registered voters compared to Biden's 49 percent.
That's working with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points, which virtually puts Trump and Biden at a dead heat.
Trump has also seen strong support for how he's handled the coronavirus pandemic and for the strong national economy prior to the national shutdown.
About 47 percent of respondents trusted Trump to handle the pandemic better than Biden. That's compared to 43 percent who trusted the former vice president more.
And 52 percent said they trusted the president to help the economy compared to just 42 percent for Biden.
