Steyer Launches Impeachment Ad Using Mueller

By    |   Tuesday, 30 July 2019 09:03 AM EDT

Billionaire Tom Steyer's Need to Impeach group will air a 30-second ad featuring clips of former special counsel Robert Mueller's congressional testimony, Politico is reporting.

The group is spending in the mid-six figures to show the ad on CNN and MSNBC before and after the second presidential debates, the website noted.

The ad starts off with Mueller in front of the House Judiciary Committee. The words: "WHAT MUELLER SAID" are shown on the screen.

He's asked: "What about total exoneration? Did you actually totally exonerate the president?"

Mueller answers: "No."

He's then asked: "Isn't it fair to say the president's written answers show that he wasn't always being truthful?"

Mueller replies: "Generally."

Mueller is asked: "Do you believe you can charge the president of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?"

He answers: "Yes."

The ad then shows House Intelligence chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who asks: "The campaign welcomed the Russian help, did they not?"

Mueller answers: "Yes."

Schiff says: "And then they lied to cover it up?"

Mueller answers: "Generally, that's true."

Steyer is currently seeking the Democratic nomination for president.
