Fewer than one third of all Americans plan to talk about politics over their family Thanksgiving dinners on Thursday.
Key figures in the HuffPost/YouGov poll released Wednesday:
- 28 percent said they are at least somewhat likely to discuss politics.
- 11 percent said they are at least somewhat likely to get into a fight about politics.
- 4 percent said an argument with relatives over politics is very likely to occur.
- 4 percent said they changed their Thanksgiving plans to avoid having any arguments about politics.
A Hillary Clinton voter said in the poll that President Donald Trump "has torn my family apart."
That person said he plans to spend the holidays with only his wife's family to avoid political arguments with his family.
In another recent poll, the Pew Research Center found that 59 percent of Americans are OK with discussing politics. Forty percent, however, said they try to avoid the subject.
