Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg bemoaned the "divisive" Supreme Court in her annual speech on the state of the court, but implied that she intends to stay another five years, The New York Times reports.
Ginsburg, in her speech at Duke Law School’s summer program in Washington, D.C. last week, said that the court’s most recent term was "much more divisive than is usual," adding, "I hope next term we will get back to our usual 15 percent sharp division, rather than nearly 40 percent."
"The returns aren’t in," she continued. “This was one term. And it did have more than the usual high-profile cases."
Ginsburg, who is 85 and has served on the Supreme Court for 25 years, said that she has no intention of retiring anytime soon, noting that Justice John Paul Stevens served on the court until the age of 90.
"If I aspired to that same tenure, I’d have five more years to go," she said.
