Democrat Stacey Abrams, who failed in her bid to win the Georgia gubernatorial race last month, said she is looking at running for the Senate or even making another attempt at capturing the governor’s seat again, Politico is reporting.
And, while saying she has not considered running for president, Abrams said she hasn’t ruled it out, either.
“I am open to all options, and it’s too soon after the election to know exactly what I’m doing,” she said.
Abrams was defeated by Republican Brian Kemp in a hotly contested race for Georgia governor last month. After the loss, she maintained the election was neither fair nor free.
According to Politico, the most likely political scenarios for Abrams now include a challenge to Republican Sen. David Perdue in two years or mounting a bid to defeat Kemp in four years.
“I am thinking about both,” she told Politico
“Georgia is my state,” she said. “And the changes I talked about in this campaign remain changes I believe are necessary for our state to continue to progress, to serve the entirety of our state, and that the issues that I raised remain urgent and important.”
