The special counsel investigation probing whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia now includes Andrew Miller, a former aide to ex-Trump adviser and political consultant Roger Stone.
According to The New York Times, special counsel Robert Mueller's team subpoenaed Miller to face questions in front of the grand jury that has been put together for the case. The order also directs him to hand over documents.
The Times noted Miller worked with Stone around the 2016 Republican National Convention and performed public relations duties.
Stone has been accused of having ties to Russia and to WikiLeaks via a secret backchannel. Run by Julian Assange, WikiLeaks released hacked emails from former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Stone has denied allegations he had a relationship with the Kremlin. He recently accused the U.S. government of trying to set him up with a source who claimed to be a Russian with damaging information about Clinton during the campaign.
Stone said in May he was "prepared" to be indicted by Mueller's team, although that has yet to happen. And he insists neither he nor President Donald Trump had any illicit relationships with the Russians.
