The special counsel assigned to oversee the Justice Department’s probe into collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election on Wednesday requested White House documents related to President Donald Trump’s actions as president, The New York Times reported.
Robert Mueller has asked for documents relating to Trump's firing of his national security adviser and FBI director and is also seeking additional information on the president's closed-door meeting with Russian officials that took place in May. A request for documents in 10 additional areas have also been sent to the White House.
Trump's lawyers have been putting together a response, according to The New York Times.
"We can't comment on any specific requests being made or our conversations with the special counsel,'" said Ty Cobb, one of Trump's lawyers.
Trump's decision to fire James Comey as FBI chief was a move he was highly criticized for.
