Hannity: 'Despicable' to Want 'Political Opponent Locked Up'

By    |   Friday, 07 June 2019 09:19 AM

Fox News host Sean Hannity slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Thursday night for saying she would like to see President Donald Trump “in prison.”

Hannity, in his opening monologue Thursday night, blasted Democrats as the “party of anti-Trump rage and psychosis,” and said that “Speaker Nancy Pelosi telling senior Democrats she would like to see Trump behind bars. Based on no actual crimes, she wants a political opponent locked up in prison. Umm, that happens in banana republics. Beyond despicable behavior. And, by the way, they would literally turn, in many ways, the USA into a country we no longer recognize.”

In 2016, Trump repeatedly called for his opponent in the presidential election, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to be imprisoned for alleged crimes. Chants of “lock her up,” can still be heard at the president’s rally, as Vox’s Aaron Rupar showed in a tweet last May.

Trump also has called for “long jail sentences” for the federal officials who investigated his campaign.

“My Campaign for President was conclusively spied on,” Trump tweeted in May. “Nothing like this has ever happened in American Politics. A really bad situation. TREASON means long jail sentences, and this was TREASON!”
