President Donald Trump is mentally unstable and cabinet secretaries should consider using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci told The Bill Press Pod on Tuesday.

"I don't understand how elected public servants of the longest-standing Republican democracy in existing world history, a 243-year-old Republican democracy, could have this sort of full-blown insanity on display and not act," Scaramucci said.

He added, "It has to really make you worry about the state of the country and the overall cowardice of leadership."

The 25th Amendment permits the removal of a president if the vice president and a majority of cabinet secretaries agree in writing that he or she is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office," according to The Hill.

Scaramucci, who worked in the White House for 11 days before being fired, has in recent weeks been frequently outspoken on television programs and Twitter to express his criticism of Trump and his administration after previously defending the president.

In response, Trump has attacked Scaramucci, calling him "totally incapable" and attacking him as a "mental wreck."
