Former U.S. intelligence officials have surfaced new claims that Saudi Arabia harbored and supported some of the 9/11 attackers, the Washington Examiner reports.
Three former FBI officials assert that Saudis helped fund and hide the attackers in the U.S. while they prepared for their coordinated attacks that killed nearly 3,000 in 2001, the Examiner reported.
The Examiner obtained affidavits that were provided by the former FBI officials
"I concluded that diplomatic and intelligence personnel of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia knowingly provided material support to the two 9/11 hijackers and facilitated the 9/11 plot," wrote David Mitchell, a former FBI terrorism investigator, the Examiner reported.
The Examiner's report comes amid a legal fight between the families of more than 2,300 victims and Saudi Arabia, which has denied the charges.
Further, former Sen. Bob Graham, member of the intelligence committee, gave a statement asserting Saudi involvement, the Examiner reported.
"This domestic support network was organized and coordinated by employees and agents of the Saudi government," Graham wrote, the Examiner reported.
Graham has been outspoken in his pursuit of uncovering the conspiracy, including the declassification of a 28-page federal report last year that he claimed to be just the tip of the iceberg.
