Demanding respect from the captain, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly needed to be held back by her own security from entering the cockpit before an international flight, according to The Jerusalem Post, citing Channel 12.
Sara Netanyahu reportedly was incensed she was not welcomed by the captain aboard an El Al flight to Ukraine.
The prime minister's office issued a statement calling the report of the security officers holding her back from entering the cockpit on the El Al flight to Ukraine "a total lie."
"This is a distorted publication," the statement read, per the report. "There was a misunderstanding which was immediately clarified and the flight went according to plan. The story about the security guards, as well, is a total lie. It is another attempt to divert attention from the important international visit that the prime minister carried out."
Sara Netanyahu reportedly sprang from her seat and angrily requested to confront the captain in the cockpit, but her security guards held her back, per the Post.
The captain did come on the loudspeaker thereafter to welcome the prime minister's wife, according to the report.
"The prime minister's flight went according to plan," El Al wrote in a statement, per the Post.
"We were pleased to host the prime minister and Mrs. Netanyahu on our flight to Ukraine."
There was more: the Jerusalem Report also wrote that the prime minister's wife insulted her Ukrainian hosts once she arrived at the airport.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife were greeted upon arrival with a traditional Ukrainian ceremony that included, among other things, refreshments and a round piece of bread with a pinch of salt.
When Prime Minister Netanyahu took the piece of bread and then gave a piece to his wife, she chose not to eat the bread, and rather dropped it on the ground. Her Ukrainian hosts were visibly shocked, according to several reports.
