President Donald Trump's administration is confident that special counsel Robert Mueller's report will show that it's clear that there was no collusion between the 2016 campaign and Russia, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Friday.
"We're seeing the same reports you are," Sanders told Fox News' "Fox and Friends,"
when asked what is being heard from the Department of Justice about when the investigation will end. "We feel good about the fact that what we've said all along for the last year will be clear. There was no collusion."
Earlier on Friday, Axios reported Trump's legal team has reason to believe Mueller plans to submit his report “imminently,” despite not having contact with the team in weeks.
Sanders ridiculed the idea that Trump needed to collude with Russia to beat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as "frankly laughable."
"He was an infinitely better candidate with a better message," Sanders said. "He outworked her. That is why he won. It had nothing to do with Russia or any other country for that matter. It had to do with the fact that he simply was better than she was."
Meanwhile, Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, will testify before Congress publicly next Wednesday, and Sanders said she does not think Trump has any concerns.
"I think Michael Cohen may need to be concerned about himself," she said. "That is not influencing us or bothering us in this building...the president is very confident in what he has or hasn't done. He is not concerned about Michael Cohen."
