President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection bid campaign manager Brad Parscale reportedly proposed bringing actress Roseanne Barr to a campaign rally earlier this year on the same day she was fired from her ABC show, The New York Times reported on Sunday.
Barr was fired on May 29 by ABC following her racist tweet that Valerie Jarrett, a former aide to former President Obama, was the child of the Islamist organization Muslim Brotherhood and the movie “Planet of the Apes.”
Other advisers on the campaign quickly rejected Parscale’s idea of bringing Barr, a Trump supporter, The Hill reported.
Trump, who had praised Barr for her show's ratings, defended her in a tweet after her firing and accused ABC of having a double standard.
“Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that ‘ABC does not tolerate comments like those’ made by Roseanne Barr," Trump tweeted. "Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?”
