A New York court cleared Trump ally Roger Stone Friday of allegations of defamation filed against him by a former New York gubernatorial candidate.
A jury in Manhattan Supreme Court agreed that the content of mailers that had been sent out about the Libertarian candidate, Warren Redlich, were defamatory, but did not find evidence to suggest that Stone had been involved, reports The Washington Examiner.
Redlich claimed that Stone, a Republican political consultant initiated the mailer campaign in 2010 that called him both a "sick twisted pervert" and a "sexual predator."
“This victory is extremely gratifying and reinforces my faith in the fundamental fairness of our jury system and in the capacity of our judicial system to repel those who would deceitfully abuse it as a tool for political vendettas,” Stone said after the ruling.
Redlich said he's "obviously disappointed," but is still "glad it's over. It's time to move on."
